More Than A Patio: A Sunroom Addition Will Improve Everyday Living
Is a sunroom addition is right for you?
Some people treat sunrooms as nothing more than a traditional patio with walls and windows, a quasi outdoor spot to enjoy a meal without swatting bugs. Its uses, though, are so much more. A sunroom is a space you can utilize virtually all year without worrying about the weather and without having to apply insect repellent to enjoy the outside.
Here are three untraditional ways to make the most of a sunroom in Cleveland:
1. Fair-weather guest bedroom. Sometimes the number of overnight guests exceeds your supply of bedrooms. If the weather’s nice, open the windows and invite your family and friends to enjoy a modern sleeping porch. To make the space conducive to slumbering guests, furnish it with daybeds and reading lamps, and ensure you have blackout shades that can be pulled down as needed. Store bed linens in trunks that can double as coffee or end tables. This could also become a popular sleepover space for your little ones and their friends. (And while you’re at it, why not try it out yourself?)
2. Home office. One of the true benefits of working from home is tailoring your space to fit your needs. If you don’t have a spare bedroom for your desk, consider a sunroom addition. Unlike a traditional workspace in a tall office building, you don’t have to put up with artificial lighting or ugly cubicles. You can furnish the room any way you like, and there’s plenty of natural light to take advantage of. When the kids arrive home from school, you can also designate this as their homework station so they’re not cluttering up the kitchen or dining room while you prepare dinner.
3. Individual retreat. If you are part of a growing family that’s still living in your starter home, you may be feeling some discomfort. While it’s important for your kids to learn how to share, it’s also a blessing for them to be able to enjoy some personal space. (For you, too.) A sunroom addition from Joyce Factory Direct can be that affordable bonus for your family, a place for you to enjoy as a group and on your own. Each family member can sign up for a specific time and day to enjoy it alone, perhaps to read or do craft project.
It’s one room, but it’s easy to imagine the possibilities...
